GREETINGS & WELCOME ski or snowboard enthusiast! (Or those aspiring to be a ski or snowboard enthusiast!) Thank you for your interest & inquiry in the United Airlines Ski & Snowboard Club!

Application

Who are we? For the most, we are UAL folks that love skiing and snowboarding. Some of us have been skiing or snowboarding for years, others of us may just be getting started. Our main purpose is promote employee participation & to provide a rewarding life experience through ski or snowboard competition/comradery, as well as meeting airline folks from around the world that share our interest and love for our sports...SKIING or SNOWBOARDING! We are from & are open to all departments of United Airlines: Maintenance, Flight Operations, In-flight, Customer Service,Ramp Service, Reservations, Covia,Sales & Marketing,etc.,etc.

Our ski & snowboard club began in a humble fashion over 30 years ago, with grudge matches against SAS & ever since, ski areas here & abroad have seen commercial & economic advantages in hosting our “Ski & Snowboard Weeks” that attract hundreds of highly mobile & visible airline employees. Currently there are over 30 airlines participating, both domestically and internationally. Two separate organizations form our governing body & support our race rules. They are the North American Airlines Ski Federation (NAASF) & the International Airlines Ski Federation (IASF). Each airline provides a team to compete in races held throughout each “Ski & Snowboard Week”. Points are accumulated in each event, building to overall winners who are announced at the end of the season.

There is a snowboard division, additionally is also races for all levels of skiers, from “A” racers whom are advanced skiers & those who have “pointed out” of the “B” class; the “B” racers whom are beginner to intermediate skiers. Though we encourage all participants to compete, however it is NOT a requirement. There are (3) age categories at the “A” & “B” levels: Group One- 34 & under, Group Two - 35 to 49, Group Three - 50 & above (many of our retiree’s ski in this category) ; New this year there will be a “Newcomers Race” for those who have never raced but are curious of the thrill without the pressure...just for fun! The participation of employees dependents & friends are welcomed & they may join us in the races if they so desire. EVERYBODY has F*U*N skiing & snowboarding with our United Airlines Ski & Snowboard Club!.

Activities held at a “Ski & Snowboard Week” include: race clinics, Ski or Snowboard lessons, Nordic skiing, on mountain barbecues/picnics & PLENTY of apres parties after snowriding in the PM. “Theme nights” with costumes, dancing & awards presentations. Trophies & all functions are sponsored by one of many sponsors such as Anheuser-Busch/Michelob Light, Atomic, Bacardi, Paul Mitchell,Red Bull,Solomon, Sportube, Spyder Gear to name a few.
